Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Gallardo receives an aggressive makeover for the 2009 model year. In addition to a revised front, its rear-end is completely new. A Gallardo Spyder (convertible) trim is expected to be introduced in late 2009. Altogether, reviewers say the Gallardo's exterior revisions are a success.

  • "Like its illustrious forefathers, such as the legendary Countach and Diablo, the 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is poster-worthy material for the bedroom walls of teenagers everywhere." -- Edmunds
  • "The new front bumper now comes to a point in the center of the car, resembling the front-end treatment of the Gallardo's big brothers, the Murcielago and the Reventon.  ... The 2009 Gallardo LP560-4 also has a new rear end. Its new taillights (each with triple Y-shaped flux-capacitor-looking elements) no longer wrap up and onto the horizontal plane in the rear. A single strip of black aluminum mesh under the taillights serves as an air outlet, and four absolutely gorgeous chrome exhaust tips are incorporated in the rear diffuser." -- Automobile Magazine
  • "The new car's styling is at once more aggressive and more elegant than before. The front end has been given a bit more of a chin in the form of revised, enlarged cooling intakes.  ... The body sides and the rear decklid have also been smoothed and filled, with single slits replacing the dozens of gills on the original Gallardo. The skinnier taillights no longer wrap up onto the decklid, and they now sit atop a wide band of grillwork that visually widens the rear end for that extra-exotic look. Taking a page from Ferrari's time-hewn handbook, Lambo fitted the decklid with a new plexiglass 'window' to show drooling bystanders what's underneath." -- Car and Driver
