Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Reviewers describe the Murcielago as a show-stopper. Available as a coupe and roadster, its wide stance, scissor doors, and optional transparent engine bonnet drip drool everywhere it roams. Auto writers' only complaint is with the roadster's hard-to-use targa top.
- "Its outrageous styling is aerodynamically optimized but it is also designed to draw attention. This is a car that simply cannot be overlooked. ... The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster features exotic carbon-fiber body panels and steel doors that scissor open in signature Lamborghini style." -- Forbes
- "Lamborghini is keen to point out that the side vents and ducts are not symmetrical. The driver's side features an aperture that's opened wide to cool the oil radiator, while the passenger-side aperture -- where there is no oil cooler -- is practically closed. Taken as a whole, the car adheres to a 'form follows function' decree." -- Cars.com
- "The roadster is actually more of a targa, as it has a cloth-covered roof panel that sits atop the cockpit like a giant toupee and takes several minutes and a degree in mechanical engineering to erect. The company recommends its use only at speeds under 100 mph for fear that it could fly off the car (much like an errant toupee) at faster velocities." -- Edmunds
- "You could use the top, but it's really designed to protect the leather-clad interior from the freak cloudburst. It's a fussy contraption, with a collapsible small-gauge steel tube frame, that needs to be unfolded, extended, fitted, and snapped into place." -- Road and Track
- "Only those happy to suck up the constant attention and public palaver that inevitably accrue to a Lamborghini driver should even consider one. You know who you are." -- Car and Driver
