All 2013 Range Rover Evoque models come with a turbocharged, four-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and Land Rover’s Terrain Response system. Terrain Response adjusts the engine, transmission and traction settings to accommodate paved, grassy, gravely, snowy, muddy, rutty and sandy conditions. With this system, test drivers say the Range Rover Evoque excels off-road. Although many luxury compact SUVs offer V6 engines, reviewers are quite satisfied with the turbocharged engine’s performance. They say it accelerates well from a stop and passes and merges on the highway without hesitation. Test drivers also say the automatic transmission is smooth, but one thinks that at times, it shifts abruptly. Achieving an EPA-estimated 20/28 mpg city/highway, the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel economy ratings are good for a luxury SUV with standard all-wheel drive. While critics agree that the Range Rover Evoque has strong brakes, some aren’t satisfied with its handling abilities. They say the steering is light and lacks feeling. Reviewers also say that the Range Rover Evoque’s performance is refined both on- and off-road, but that its ride is most comfortable and controlled when the terrain system is in the on-road setting. The 2013 Range Rover Evoque trumps its classmates with impressive off-road capabilities, but its below-average reliability brings it to the back of the pack.

The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is one of the most expensive models in the class, but according to reviewers, it's worth the money. They say the five-seat cabin is both attractive and well-made. It is also equipped with a lot of standard features. Test drivers add that the standard stereo has great sound quality, and say the infotainment system is easy to use. Reviewers agree that the Range Rover Evoque’s front seats are spacious and comfortable, but they think the Range Rover Evoque’s exterior design hampers rear visibility. Also, they mention that the sloping roof decreases rear-seat headroom in the two-door model.

Other Cars to Consider

The Audi Q5 is less expensive than the Range Rover Evoque. The base model, which has a turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive, has fuel economy ratings that are identical to the Evoque’s. Unlike the Evoque, the Q5 has two optional engines, one of which is a V6. The Audi Q5 has comfortable front and rear seats and has more overall cargo space than the Evoque. 

The Land Rover LR2 is the only other off-road vehicle in the class. It’s less expensive than the Range Rover Evoque, but it doesn’t have as many standard features. Reviewers say the LR2 is a very capable off-road vehicle that provides excellent outward visibility, but think its on-road performance isn't as good as the Range Rover Evoque’s.

The 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is available in two-door or four-door body styles. The four-door model is available in Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Premium, Dynamic and Prestige trims. The two-door model is available in Pure Plus, Pure Premium and Dynamic trims. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive and Land Rover’s Terrain Response system are standard on all models.
