Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has not been crash-tested by the government. Like most luxury SUVs, it comes with a full range of safety technologies to help drivers avoid, and passengers survive, collisions.

Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes are standard on all Range Rover Sports, as is Dynamic and Roll Stability control. Advanced Emergency Brake assist is optional.  The system, which  word with the optional adaptive cruise control automatically detects when the vehicle in front of the Range Rover Sport slows down, and alerts the driver.  If the driver doesn't take any action, the system lightly applies the brakes to lessen the severity of impact.  If the driver does take action, the system primes the brakes so that full braking power is applied without the driver having to put full-force on the brake pedal.

Standard on all Range Rover sports is parking aid with a rearview camera, but buyers may want to upgrade to the Surround Camera System, which is an $800 option on both HSe and Supercharged models.  The Surround Camera System uses five cameras to give the driver a 360-degree view of the area around the car -- a real help when parking or maneuvering on the trail.

Six airbags are standard on the Range Rover Sport, including front, side and side-curtain airbags in the front row and side-curtain airbags in the rear row.
