Safety - What the Auto Press Says

Though the GX hasn't undergone crash tests, there are plenty of safety features on board to reassure buyers. These include advanced front, side-mounted and side curtain roll-sensing air bags for the driver and front passenger; side curtain roll-sensing air bags for middle-row passengers; electronic traction control; and electronic stability control.

  • "The dual-range all-wheel-drive system is among the very best available (the center differential is a Torsen limited-slip unit) and it's complemented by the shockingly effective Downhill Assist Control (DAC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Active-TRAC (A-TRAC) traction control systems. Throw in excellent four-wheel disc brakes with both ABS and brake assist systems and it takes real effort to get into trouble with a GX 470." -- Edmunds
  • "The seat belts in the GX fit well and were easy to manage, even for little fingers. The center seat belt comes out of the top of the seat, so it won't impede your visibility. The Latch connectors are clearly marked and easily accessed; a Velcro flap keeps them covered when they're not in use. An available tracker system helps police recover the GX if it should be stolen." -- Mother Proof
