Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Lexus LS has always worn an evolutionary design. It's conservative, and clearly derived from the first Lexus cars. Few reviewers go out of their way to praise the look, though many will say it is conservatively handsome.

  • "Lexus designers have given a lot of attention to aerodynamic considerations that ultimately lead to improved high-speed stability, quieter operation, and better highway fuel mileage. Yet, this has been done without making the LS look like some super-streamlined jellybean. The detailing is impeccable, the fit and finish is precise, and the entire look is one of refined, contemporary elegance. -- New Car Test Drive
  • "The headlamps are designed to be reminiscent of a Baccarat crystal glass." -- Mother Proof
  • "Incrementally more sculpted" with "an aerodynamically laid-back grille, headlights and windshield at the front, and the hint of a BMW trunk at the rear." - Cars.com
  • "Sleek, modern and somewhat menacing." -- About.com
  • "Has a clean, conservative, yet absolutely contemporary shape, accentuated by a forward-thrusting arrowhead motif carried through from door handles to the front and rear lamp units and even the large, unusual twin exhaust-pipe diverters low in the rear bumper." -- Forbes
  • "A refreshing change from models of the past. More muscular-looking than its predecessor." -- Road and Track
