Lexus RX 350 - What the Auto Press Says
The RX 350 offers one of the best combinations of powerful performance and interior luxury in its class. In fact, along with the RX 400h hybrid version, it's our 2009 Best Luxury Crossover for the Money. For a refined SUV package, you can't do much better than this. The RX 350 even offers good fuel economy for its class. But if you want a more environmentally friendly vehicle, consider the RX Hybrid, which provides more miles per gallon without sacrificing performance. Or, for an equally luxurious option, try the Acura MDX.
After a refresh last year, the Lexus RX 350 is relatively unchanged for 2009. It continues to receive wide praise. "Overall, the Lexus RX 350 not only impressed me with its engine and suspension refinement but also by its ability to appeal to the senses, even with its quirky style," says Automobile.com. "It encompasses the casual elegance that many buyers are looking for in this segment, with a bias towards safety. Yes, it's hard to go wrong with the RX." If you're interested in the RX 350, take note: You may be able to get a great deal on a 2009 model since the RX 350 is getting a full redesign for 2010.
The RX 350 comes in front- or all-wheel drive. New for 2009 is a special Pebble Beach Edition, which features unique styling and a special paint color. The RX is also available as a hybrid, the RX 400h, which is reviewed separately.
- "This stylish all-weather wagon is the company's bestselling vehicle. The RX transports five adults in an immaculate interior, offers prolific luxury appointments, and boasts reasonably good handling. Softer than sportier utes like Acura's MDX, the RX holds a comfy middle ground." -- Car and Driver
- "This premium midsize SUV has many imitators, but few offer this Best Buy's blend of comfort, refinement, and build quality." -- Consumer Guide
- "One change for the 2009 model year is the newly available Pebble Beach Edition for the RX 350. My test model was equipped with this package, which costs $3,880 and features unique styling cues, including a restyled grille that's quite different from the one regular RX 350s wear, special 18-inch alloy wheels, special badges and an exclusive paint color: Truffle Mica." -- Cars.com
- If you have been a fan of futuristic SUVs from Lexus, and would like to get a set of Callaway clubs in the process, your oversized golf cart has arrived!" -- Left Lane News
RX-350 Performance - 8.4 (Very Good)
The RX 350's extremely smooth ride and powerful engine earns it high praise for performance. "The RX 350 is one of the better examples of the crossover ideal: the blending of SUV styling with carlike ride comfort," says Cars.com. "If you didn't know any better, you might think you were in one of Lexus' passenger cars when driving the RX; the comfortable ride, smooth steering response and general refinement are all there." However, some reviewers are disappointed that the RX 350 has no off-road capabilities. Read More
RX-350 Exterior - 7.3 (Good)
The RX 350's sculpted, curvy exterior is well-liked by the critics. "The RX350 was one of the first of the mid-size SUVs that has a rather 'spaceship' appearance," says Left Lane News. "At that time, it was an acquired taste. Now it is rather mainstream. But it still manages to hold its own against others in the marketplace." Read More

I loved the car's general ambience inside, and just how serene I felt even though the world around me appeared so hectic." Read More
