Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2010 RX 350 top scores of five stars for driver and passenger safety in frontal crash tests and front- and rear-seat safety in side crash tests. It also gives the RX a four-star rollover score, which is excellent for an SUV. The insurance industry gives the Lexus top scores of "Good" in frontal offset, side impact and rear protection crash tests.

The RX 350 comes with many advanced safety features, which are expected for its class and price range. These include standard side curtain airbags for both seating rows. There are several available safety options. Intuitive Parking Assist uses ultrasonic sensors mounted on the bumpers to detect objects around the vehicle. The Pre-Collision System preps Brake Assist and retracts the front seatbelts if a frontal collision is unavoidable. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control reduces the throttle and applies the brakes if your vehicle is too close to the one ahead.

  • "Standard safety features include all-disc antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front and outboard rear seats, front and rear side curtain airbags, knee airbags for front-seat occupants, an electronic stability system and active head restraints for the front seats." -- Cars.com
  • "On the safety front, Lexus has thrown Campbell's alphabet soup surplus into the new RX, with the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system orchestrating the ABS, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) systems." -- Autoblog
