Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The federal government gives the 2009 Lexus RX 400h top scores of five stars for all seating positions in both frontal and side crash tests, as well as a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives all RX models a top score of "Good" in frontal offset tests. However, the RX receives a score of "Poor" for all seats in rear crash protection. On the plus side, reviewers are very pleased with the RX 400h's safety features. One of the most popular is a vehicle stability control system called Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management. VDIM is designed to anticipate any instability on the road and stabilize the RX's handling.
Another unique option is dynamic laser cruise control. This system uses laser technology to automatically adjust vehicle speed, to help maintain a certain distance between your vehicle and the vehicles ahead of you.
