Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Most entry-level luxury cars are stand-alone models, but the MKZ is based on a more affordable family car – the Ford Fusion. That has always hampered its visual appeal. It doesn’t equal the sweeping, sexy lines of an Audi A4 or even the distinctive character of an Acura TL. It just looks like a dressed-up family sedan. For 2010, the MKZ’s styling has been refreshed, and reviewers say that Lincoln designers have done a better job disguising the car’s lower-priced roots, but the MKZ’s exterior will never have the visual punch of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
- "Lincoln has updated the MKZ with all-new front sheetmetal, including a handsome split grille. Out back, the old MKZ's ugly taillights have been swapped for new ugly taillights, which look like a giant red unibrow." -- About.com
- “Staid Lincoln styling cues seem aimed at an older demographic.” -- Edmunds
- "I like the application of the new Lincoln family design here, also, with the split-waterfall grille. I think once the Lincoln MKT is on the roads and we see three or four similarly styled Lincolns out there, the whole family lineage will start to gel in the American mind. … The MKZ now looks less like a pretty, more sedate Ford Fusion and more like a proper Lincoln." -- Automobile Magazine
- “The new split-wing grille is serious progress.” -- Motor Trend
