Safety - What the Auto Press Says
Neither the federal government nor insurance industry has crash-tested the '09 Exige. What's more, critics complain that it only features bare-bones safety technology and rearward visibility is hampered.
- "Don't expect much more than federally mandated safety equipment on the Exige. An antilock brake system is included, but neither stability control nor side airbags are available. A traction control system is optional." -- Edmunds
- "On the track, it doesn't matter that the Exige's intercooler blocks the rearview mirror, since not many cars can keep up. But when you're driving on the street, it would be nice to be able to see what's behind you." -- Automobile Magazine
- "The addition of a supercharger to the Exige has completely blanked out all rearward vision immediately behind the driver, since the air-to-air intercooler (fed by a very sporting roof scoop) inhabits the space behind the Exige's rear window. But the visibility provided by the two side mirrors is pretty good, and you soon get used to a center mirror that now mainly blocks some of the view ahead." -- Car and Driver
