The 2015 Mini Hardtop is an affordable small car that adds a four-door model to the lineup this year.
The 2015 Mini Hardtop is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3.0-cylinder engine with 134 horsepower. The Mini Cooper S comes with a 189-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic is optional. Mini expects the 2015 Hardtop to earn an EPA-estimated 29/41 mpg city/highway with an automatic transmission. The Cooper Convertible is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 121 horsepower. The Cooper S Convertible and the John Cooper Works Convertible have a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 181 and 208 horsepower, respectively. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic is optional. All 2015 Mini Hardtop models come exclusively with front-wheel drive. Convertibles equipped with an automatic transmission return an EPA-estimated 26/34 mpg.
The 2015 Mini Hardtop 2 Door seats four, while the new Mini Hardtop 4 Door has seating for five, 1.5-inches of additional rear-seat legroom and a cargo area that is 4.4 cubic feet bigger than that of the two-door model. Leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, HD Radio and a USB port are standard. The Convertible adds a power-retractable soft top and newly standard automatic climate control. Options include leather upholstery, heated front seats, a rearview camera, a sunroof, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, satellite radio, navigation, a head-up display and Mini’s Connected infotainment system with enhanced iPod integration and an 8.8-inch high-definition display screen. The 2015 Mini Hardtop 2 Door starts at $20,450. The Hardtop 4 Door and Convertible are priced at $21,450 and $25,700, respectively.
