Maserati Quattroporte - What the Auto Press Says
The Quattroporte ranks highly for its comfortable yet precise handling, as well as head-turning exterior design and luxurious four-passenger cabin. Still, auto writers criticize its limited cargo room and point out that some competitors are more powerful.
Auto writers agree that the 2008 Maserati Quattroporte is a rare delight, characterized by superior handling dynamics and exquisite design both inside and out. Car and Driver says: "The Maserati Quattroporte is rare, gorgeous, and exotic. It combines sex-on-wheels Italian looks, a sumptuous interior, a Ferrari-based engine, and balanced, responsive handling." Still, the Quattroporte isn't perfect. Reviewers point out that many of its competitors, including the Mercedes-Benz CLS55 and Audi S8, offer more powerful engine options.
The 2008 Quattroporte features a 400-horsepower V8 engine and is available in Executive GT and Sport GT trims.
- "It's graced with a stunning exterior design with aggressive tumblehome, an interior that looks like an Italian designer named Antonio ordered a leather bomb to be exploded in each car before it left the factory, and a glorious Italian V-8 engine that all result in a character that other luxury cars can only dream of." -- Automobile Magazine
- "It's still an enthusiast's car, yet those who just want a megawatt-styled lux sedan can now love it, too. A visit to the dentist and time in rehab made it the supermodel we all knew it could be, and it now deserves a top spot on your luxo four-door shopping list. Its rarity and exclusivity remain a bonus." -- Motor Trend
Quattroporte Performance - 8.9 (Very Good)
Test drivers are impressed with the Ferrari-powered Maserati Quattroporte's sporty and comfortable performance dynamics. "The verdict: a wonderful car with a glorious 4.2 liter Ferrari engine," writes The Auto Channel. "Made for high-powered businessmen to travel in total comfort and safety. Great ride, great handling, reasonable fuel consumption." According to Maserati, it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.2 seconds when equipped with an automatic transmission. The Quattroporte's performance ranks near the top of its class. Continue with our full Quattroporte Performance Review to read about Maserati's innovative Skyhook suspension system. Read More
Quattroporte Exterior - 9.5 (Excellent)
Auto writers agree that the Quattroporte exudes sex appeal. According to HybridCars.com, "The Maserati Quattroporte is a beautiful Italian vixen in a luxury sedan market dominated by German and Japanese (and American, if you want to be charitable) manufacturers." The Quattroporte's exterior design ranks highly within its class. Continue with our full Quattroporte Exterior Review to learn how the GT S trim differs from the base model. Read More
Quattroporte Interior - 8.0 (Very Good)
The Quattroporte's cabin features comfortable seating for four and a level of luxury fitting its hefty price tag. Automobile.com adds, "It's also more about sumptuous Italian leathers stitched together with almost purposeful imperfection here and there, so that its hand-crafted artisanship is possible to see." Still, the Quattroporte's interior cabin only ranks in the middle of its class.
