Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
The Maybach 62 is more than 20 feet long, and weighs more than 6,000 lbs. Its sheer size gives it an impressive sense of presence. Few reviewers comment on its exterior, except to point out its dramatic aura. Its sheetmetal, however, is derived from the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class. That does make the car look dated to some -- even the S-Class has been updated since this design first appeared.
- "Compared to the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley Arnage, the Maybach is more contemporary, more entertaining to drive and far less conspicuous." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "An enormous piece of sculpture, nearly three tons of German engineering with doors as thick as fortress walls At the push of an overhead button, they shut automatically, with a sound that has been compared to the closing of a bank vault-New York Times
- "To distance the 62 S from the less powerful 62, several changes were made to the exterior - a different front grille, headlamp cluster and a redesigned rear apron." -- Edmunds
- "According to the manufacturer, Maybach styling balances classic and avant-garde features. The doors, hood and fenders are made of aluminum." -- Cars.com
