Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 B-Series' exterior styling is very similar to that of its sibling, the Ford Ranger. Where it differs is in its grille, which features horizontal bars instead of Ford's egg crate design. While few reviewers comment on the truck's look, a few note that the B-Series remains a true compact truck in a class where competitors all seem to have swelled. That small size has its benefits for buyers who need a truck that can negotiate small spaces.

  • "To set the B-Series apart from the Ford Ranger, Mazda performs a front-end freshening, with more brightwork around the grille and headlamps and a raised 'power dome' hood," -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "A twin of the Ford Ranger, the Mazda B-Series is a true compact pickup, while its formerly like-sized competitors have grown to become midsize trucks. The Mazda's smaller size is an advantage when tackling tight trails off-road, jockeying with city traffic or parking in crowded lots." -- Edmunds
  • "While the silhouette is identical, the B-Series is easily distinguished from the Ranger by the Mazda grille emblem. The truck has a sturdy stance and simple character lines. Those who want to spend the money can find plenty of dress-up items to personalize the appearance." -- Cars.com
