Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Reviewers express disappointment that the Tribute's bland exterior didn't get many modifications with its most recent redesign. One plus, however, is the useful flip-up liftgate window and "Easy Fuel" capless fuel filler. Both make things easier for families on the go. The liftgate window allows drivers to quickly throw a few things in the back without opening the entire liftgate, while the capless fuel filler eliminates the inconvenience of forgetting to screw the gas cap back on.
- "The new Tribute puts classic SUV sheetmetal cues into a contemporary context that effectively mixes rugged with refined. Squared-off primary lines resolve into nicely rounded edges while a prominent glass area gives the cabin an open, airy feel." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "The rear window opens independent of the liftgate if you just need to toss your stuff into the back." -- Cars.com
- "While there's virtually no difference mechanically between the Tribute Hybrid and its Escape Hybrid sibling, Mazda did change the Tribute Hybrid's look to give it some ‘zoom-zoom.' The front grille has Mazda's five-point shape and some extra chrome. The halogen headlights are angled. When they're paired with the grille, it makes the Tribute look like it's smiling. It's completely inoffensive, if that makes sense." -- Mother Proof
