Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

While the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK may not take many reviewers' breath away with its cornering prowess, it leaves some breathless with the way it looks. The CLK is an aging design, but its unique pillarless look has aged well, and is still utterly unique in this class.  What does stand out as a bit out-of-date is the cloth convertible top. It powers down with one touch, but with many rivals offering hardtops, it seems a bit archaic.

  • "One of the most recognizable styling cues from this generation is the CLK's lack of a B-pillar -- the vertical strip of metal normally seen behind the driver and passenger windows. This elegant touch has helped extend the shelf life of the CLKs' somewhat aging design." -- Edmunds
  • "The Mercedes-Benz CLK is beautiful, and its beauty lies in its symmetry and balance. The CLK looks forceful, but also elegant and sophisticated, and it blends form and function nicely." -- New Car Test Drive
  • "A handsome car with a modern yet classic Mercedes-Benz appearance. Unlike on some other Benzes, the look isn't forced." -- The Car Connection
