Used Car: 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe Review
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe has a comfortable ride and excellent safety and reliability scores, but the E-Class isn’t as sporty as rival luxury large cars.
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is ranked:
Based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe has little in common with the E-Class sedan beyond its name and engines. Reviewers said the E-Class Coupe isn’t a true two-door sports car, but offers a balance of comfort and agility. When compared to other luxury coupes, reviewers felt that the E-Class wasn’t up to snuff in terms of power. It comes with either a V6 or V8, with most test drivers preferring the power of the V8 engine. Because of its relatively large size, the E-Class doesn’t handle as well as smaller, sportier luxury coupes like the 2010 BMW 3-Series or 2010 Audi A5. Reviewers found that the E-Class lacked steering feel and was tuned with comfort in mind. However, the E-Class performed well above-average for the class in crash tests and has an excellent reliability rating.
Test drivers loved the premium materials in the E-Class Coupe. When it was new, reviewers found that the seats were comfortable and that there was enough interior space to fit four adults. Taller passengers may have trouble with headroom in the back seat, however. The E-Class Coupe comes equipped with Mercedes’ COMAND interface system, which test drivers felt was difficult to learn and use in some cases. The E-Class Coupe has the same amount of cargo space as the sedan, but reviewers felt that the space wasn’t very accessible.
Other Cars to Consider
If you’re seeking a sportier two-door coupe, you should seriously consider the 2010 BMW 3-Series. In terms of performance, there is not much else that matches the 3-Series’ acceleration, powerful engine options or corner carving abilities. It does all that while getting better fuel economy than the E-Class Coupe, but offers a less powerful base engine.
The 2010 Audi A5 offers an impressive combination of elegance and sporty handling dynamics, and is worth a look when shopping for a luxury sports coupe. The A5 comes with standard all-wheel drive, which only improves its excellent handling capabilities and its sportier performance over the E-Class Coupe. However, neither the A5 nor the 3-Series have the rear-seat space of the E-Class Coupe.
