Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Mercedes Benz G Class has a distinctive look.  Like the Hummer or the World War II-era Jeep, the Mercedes G-Class has the boxy look of a military transport vehicle. The G-Class isn't conventionally stylish, but it does have a certain boxy cachet most reviewers like.

  • "Actually, the coolest thing about the G is the intersection of old and new. It looks old because, well, it is. And it feels old. The doors close with an old-world mechanical clank I haven't heard from a Mercedes since the W126-body (1980-1991) S-class." -- Automobile Magazine
  • "The G is monolithically tall (it may not fit in your garage), but it isn't particularly wide or long, making city visits to the adoring masses possible.  We've often heard it said that Mercedes are built like vaults. Well, closing the G's side-swinging rear cargo door with its attached full-size wheel/tire feels like sealing the gold-plated portal to Fort Knox. " -- Edmunds
  • "If you like your SUVs to look rugged and adventurous (think Hummer), you'll appreciate the old-school styling."-- Kelley Blue Book
