Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Grand Marquis received a rating of 5 stars out of 5 in government crash tests for front-impact crash protection, and another five stars for front and rear side-impact safety.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't tested the 2010 model, but gave the mechanically-similar 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis a top rating of "good" for frontal-offset crash test results.  The Grand Marquis also received a "marginal" side-impact crash test rating in that test, even with side air bags.

The Grand Marquis has an anti-lock braking system and auto on/off headlamps with delay. All-speed traction control is standard.  The Grand Marquis comes standard with front and driver passenger air bags with crash severity sensing system, tire pressuring monitoring system and the Personal Safety System that provides the driver and front passenger additional protection in specific frontal collision cases and adds occupant sensors.
