Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Eclipse's exterior was refreshed in 2009 to feature a more aggressive front and rear end, as well as a redesigned wing. It's available in two body styles, coupe and Spyder (convertible) -- which features a power-operated cloth top with an automatic powered tonneau cover.

  • "The major difference between the new Eclipse and its predecessor can be seen at the front of the car. A new grille and bumper design make the front look much more intimidating, as both parts are now finished in black. V-6 GT models now have twin tailpipes, and their appearance brings to mind the pipes on the Nissan 350Z. The big rear wing on the coupe is also new." -- Cars.com
  • "The rear fascia now looks less bulbous thanks to a black apron replacing its lower half, which was a one-piece unit on the preceding car." -- Left Lane News
  • "The Spyder's new wide-mouth grille, aero-wedge profile, tightly stretched skin and a laid-back windshield make a bold statement. Despite the inclusion of rear seats, the car comes off visually as a two-seater with a low, tight-fitting "speedster" top." -- Kelley Blue Book
