Used Car: 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Review

Review Last Updated: 5/19/15

Available as a sedan, hatchback or sporty Ralliart model, the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer offers an array of trims. But with a cheap interior and sluggish base engine, some of the Lancer’s classmates may be better choices.

The 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer is ranked:

There are many versions of the 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer. There’s even a high-performance Lancer Evolution model, which is reviewed separately. The sedan is available with two inline four-cylinder engines, as well as a turbocharged engine that is found in the sporty, all-wheel drive Lancer Ralliart. But despite the Lancer Ralliart’s pocket-rocket performance, reviewers said that lower trims aren’t particularly powerful. If you prefer a hatchback, the Lancer Sportback offers the same powertrain choices and a five-door body style.

On the inside, car reviewers thought that the Lancer’s interior felt cheap. Taller drivers may have trouble finding a comfortable driving position, but the back seat is spacious for a 2011 small car. The sedan and hatchback have good cargo space, though neither has the most room in the class.

The base Lancer sedan comes with a four-speaker stereo and power windows and door locks, but not air conditioning. ES and higher trims add that feature, as well as more standard equipment.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra has comfortable seats and one of the largest trunks in the class. The Elantra also gets great fuel economy ratings.

If you don’t need a spacious back seat, but want a small car with good performance, you’ll like the 2011 Mazda3. Reviewers said that even the base Mazda3 has good performance, and its interior is nicer than the Lancer’s. The Mazda3 is also available as a sedan or hatchback, the latter of which offers the most cargo space.
