Used Car: 2009 Nissan 370Z Review

Review Last Updated: 4/22/13

With exceptional handling and a powerful V6, reviewers agreed that the 2009 Nissan 370Z is one of the most fun-to-drive cars in the class.

The 2009 Nissan 370Z is ranked:

The 2009 Nissan 370Z comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 332 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. A seven-speed automatic is also available. The 370Z with either the manual or automatic gets 18/26 mpg, which is about average for an affordable sports car. Test drivers liked the 370Z’s acceleration from a start. However, one reviewer also said that the engine feels unrefined at higher RPM. Automotive reviewers liked the 370Z’s precise steering, firm brakes and athletic handling, though some test drivers said the ride could be more comfortable.

When it was new, many reviewers compared the interior materials and design to the 2009 Nissan 350Z roadster. They said the 370Z has less plastic, larger gauges and a bigger trunk. Still, the 370Z’s 6.9 cubic feet of cargo space is low for the class, and one test driver disliked the base 370Z’s hard seats and lack of lumbar support. Standard features on the 2009 Nissan 370Z include push-button start, automatic climate control, a four-speaker stereo and cruise control. Available equipment includes heated seats, faux suede and leather upholstery with adjustable lumbar support, a six-disc CD changer, a Bose audio system, satellite radio, Bluetooth and a navigation system with an iPod interface.

The 2009 Nissan 370Z has a good reliability score for the class.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a two-seat convertible that comes with a soft or hardtop. It has an excellent reliability score, and it uses less fuel than the 370Z. Although it’s less powerful, reviewers loved the Miata’s sprightly handling and fun driving dynamics.

The 2009 Ford Mustang is available as a coupe or convertible that seats four. The Mustang has three different engines to choose from, including the Mustang GT’s powerful 4.6-liter V8. The 2009 Mustang has one of the highest safety scores in the class, and it earns a slightly better reliability score than the 370Z.
