Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Nissan Altima comes standard with front and side air bags for front-seat passengers and side-curtain air bags for passengers in both rows. All Altimas come with standard four-wheel anti-lock brakes. Additionally, the 2009 Altima receives excellent crash test scores. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2009 Altima five out of five stars for frontal offset and side impact crashes, and a four-star rollover rating, out of a possible five stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2009 Altima a "Good" rating, the highest possible, in frontal offset and side impact tests.

  • "Even the rear pillars are relatively narrow, further eliminating those nasty blind spots. Rear visibility is hampered somewhat by the steep angle of the glass and small integrated outboard headrests." -- Autobytel
  • "Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags." -- Consumer Guide
