Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2010 Nissan Frontier does well in federal government crash tests, which auto reviewers such as Newsday say is the result of "about as modern a package of safety features as you'll find in a pickup."
In federal government testing, the 2010 Frontier 4x4 earned four out of five stars for driver and front passenger protection in front impact crashes, and five out of five stars for front seat and backseat occupant protection in side impact crashes. The 4x2 earned four out of five stars for the driver and five stars for the front passenger in frontal crashes, and five stars for front seat protection in side impact tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the Frontier its highest rating, "Good," in frontal offset tests, but did not conduct side impact tests.
For 2010, Nissan made side-curtain airbags standard on all Frontiers. Even better, electronic stability control is now standard on V6 models, which can help drivers avoid accidents all together. When it comes to safety, the Frontier offers one of the most comprehensive lists of features in the class.
