Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The Maxima has outstanding crash test scores. Standard safety features include dual-stage front air bags, driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side impact air bags, vehicle dynamic control and traction control.

The federal government gave the 2010 Maxima five out of five stars for the driver and front passenger's protection in front crashes, plus five out of five for all seat occupants' protection in side crashes. The Maxima also earned a five-star rollover rating.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the similar 2009 Maxima the highest rating, "Good," for front crashes, but has not yet published a side-impact test score.
