The 2009 Pontiac G5 performs well in government crash tests.

Crash Tests

  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2009 G5 four out five stars for the driver and five out of five stars for the front passenger in frontal offset crashes. In side crashes, the G5 received four stars for both the front seat and backseat occupant protection.

Safety Features

The base G5 comes with front and rear drum brakes, while four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and OnStar Assistance comes standard with the GT model. All G5s have standard dual-stage frontal, driver and right-front passenger air bags, and head curtain side air bags.
