Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Porsche Cayenne has not been crash tested, but its extensive safety equipment should put buyers at ease. The Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system works with the braking system and sensors to bolster vehicle stability in hazardous road scenarios.

Other safety features include torso side airbags, integrated left and right curtain airbags, Brake Assist, Porsche Stability Management with and Engine Drag Torque Control. Optional on most models is Front and Rear Park Assist and a rearview camera (the combination costs $2,670). ParkAssist uses an acoustic signal and front/rear displays to warn of any obstacles at the front or rear of the vehicle. Since rear visibility is poor, any rear parking assist system is essential for buyers.

The high-level Cayenne Turbo also comes with Bi-Xenon Cornering Headlights, which turn with the steering wheel for better visibility around corners. They are a $1,560 option for other models.

  • "Cayenne's tall build makes for good forward visibility. Large outside mirrors, but headrests and narrow rear window obstruct the view aft." -- Consumer Guide
