Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2009 Saab 9-7X low scores in comparison to most competitors. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it scores of "Acceptable" in frontal offset tests and "Marginal" in side impact tests -- also lower than most SUVs, which often receive top scores of "Good." In addition, it gets a score of "Poor" in rear crash tests. On the plus side, the 9-7X comes with a standard stability control system, which monitors driver input, weighs it against what the vehicle is actually doing and corrects the vehicle's path.

  • "[T]he 9-7x gets only a three-star rating, out of five, on the government's frontal crash test for the driver's side -- the most important seating position. That's the same rating the TrailBlazer gets -- and it's not good enough." -- U.S. News
  • "Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags." -- Consumer Guide
  • "ABS brakes, traction and stability control, dual front-side and side curtain airbags for both rows, and rollover sensors are all standard. Other safety equipment includes OnStar and automatic headlights." -- Car Gurus
