Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Aura achieved excellent safety scores in federal government crash testing -- missing a perfect set of scores only because of a near-perfect rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't tested the 2009 model, but the 2008 Aura achieved "Good" (the highest rating) scores in both front- and side-impact testing.  Electronic Stability Control, once optional, is now standard. Six airbags are standard, and GM points to one free year of its OnStar service as an additional safety feature.

  • "Antilock brakes, traction control, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags are standard." -- Cars.com
  • "Wide windshield posts partially block visibility when turning corners." -- MSN
