Saturn VUE - What the Auto Press Says

Redesigned in 2008, the VUE boasts classy style, a comfortable interior and impressive performance. It gets no changes for 2010.

The VUE has traditionally been one of Saturn's best-selling models, but it still has several strikes against it. For one, it places in the bottom half of its class for fuel economy. While opting for the hybrid model increases fuel economy, it also disproportionately increases price. "Buyers looking for something a little larger and more powerful than a Honda CR-V, but who are not quite willing to commit to a midsize SUV, would do well to test drive this Saturn," says Consumer Guide. "The 4-cylinder Hybrid costs about $5000 more than the conventional 4-cylinder model. It may be frugal, but that stiff price premium might take years of fuel savings to offset." For a more fuel-efficient option with even more power, consider the Toyota RAV4.

General Motors, currently going through bankruptcy, recently announced plans to sell the Saturn brand to the Penske Automotive Group, so business should continue as usual for Saturn buyers and owners. GM will even supply the cars to Penske for the next few years.

The VUE comes in several trims -- the base XE, XE-V6, XR, and the performance-oriented Red Line. It also comes as the VUE Hybrid. Due to the Saturn sale, a highly anticipated 2 Mode hybrid model is discontinued for 2010.

  • "This newest Vue is very well done, and makes a nice family hauler for those who can make do with just five seats. The RAV4 and Outlander offer a third-row seat, giving them a capacity of seven; the rest, like the Vue, have just two rows." -- Fort Worth Star-Telegram
  • "Saturns have never looked or felt so good." -- Car and Driver
  • "The five-passenger sport utility offers a solid performance, a spacious interior and the versatility many Americans need in a vehicle. It's ideal for anyone looking for an all-around workhorse at an economical price." -- Detroit News
  • "Contemporary styling combined with a comfortable interior and the advanced safety features make the Saturn Vue an easy fit into a family's active life style." -- Washington Times

VUE Performance - NA

The 2010 Saturn VUE boasts good performance, although its low fuel economy is disappointing. Acceleration is acceptable when equipped with one of two optional V6 engines, although it's lacking with the base four-cylinder. "The Vue responds instantly and directly to steering inputs and offers up road feel in gluttonous quantities for this type of vehicle," says Car and Driver. "The ride, meanwhile, is smooth and isolates occupants from highway bumps, returning only the smallest of jostles." continue

VUE Exterior - NA

The 2010 VUE is a stylish SUV, according to most reviewers. "With those tight fits, new jewel-like headlamps and a thick decorative chrome bar above the grille, the redesigned Vue is more fashionable, drawing a look, not just a glance," says the Chicago Tribune. continue

VUE Interior - NA

Reviewers praise the VUE's interior, describing it as stylish and classy. One of the few complaints is that the Saturn has slightly less cargo room than its class competitors. "Materials quality and assembly of models tested are arguably the best in the compact-SUV class," writes Consumer Guide. continue

VUE Safety - NA

The 2010 Saturn VUE does very well in federal government crash tests. It also offers safety features on par with the safest SUVs in its class. These include StabiliTrack electronic stability control. continue

VUE Reliability - NA

The 2010 Saturn VUE is covered by GM's bumper-to-bumper warranty that lasts for three years or 36,000 miles. continue
