Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2009 VUE tops scores of five stars for all seating positions in both frontal and slide crash tests. It's also an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety "Top Safety Pick" for its good performance in crash tests and for having standard electronic stability control.

  • "Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. A navigation system is available, as are heated seats, remote engine start, and a rear cargo management system that is adjustable for different cargo-carrying needs." -- Consumer Guide
  • Because it's also sold in Europe, it has some unusual safety features for this price range, including active headrests (headrests that tilt forward during a rear collision) and break-away pedals (pedals automatically release during a major frontal impact)." -- Cars.com
  • "Standard stability control with trailer-sway mitigation (a class exclusive) might even help intelligent dummies avoid a crash-and if not, standard OnStar will summon help." -- Motor Trend
