Used Car: 2011 Scion xB Review
The highly-ranked 2011 Scion xB has flashy styling, ample passenger and cargo space and impressive tech features that make it a solid used small car. It also has outstanding safety scores and a good reliability rating.
The 2011 Scion xB is ranked:
Car reviewers said the 2011 Scion xB has a lot going for it. There is plenty of space in the back seat, which is uncommon in this class. Standard interior features include a Pioneer stereo, auxiliary and USB audio ports and steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls. There’s only one trim, but models can have additional features such as satellite radio, Bluetooth, an upgraded stereo and navigation. Standard safety features on the xB include traction control, electronic stability control, electronic brake-force distribution and anti-lock brakes.
Reviewers said the 2011 Scion xB is stylish, spacious and filled with standard features, but if you’re looking for great fuel economy, the xB comes up short. With both the standard manual transmission and the available automatic, the Scion xB averages 22/28 mpg city/highway. One reason why the xB’s ratings are low for the class is because its engine is larger and more powerful than most engines in the class. But considering that the xB has as much overall cargo space as many compact SUVs, those fuel economy ratings aren’t too bad. On the other hand, some test drivers thought the xB’s engine lacked power when passing on the highway and noted that the 2011 xB leans more than they’d like during turns.
Still, with plenty of interior space, a good list of standard features and strong reliability and safety ratings, the 2011 Scion xB makes sense for shoppers who need a spacious small used car.
Other Cars to Consider
The 2011 Kia Soul is another small car with funky exterior styling and good interior space. The Soul has better fuel economy ratings than the xB, though the xB’s safety and reliability ratings are stronger than the Soul’s. The Soul also has fewer standard interior features than the xB.
The 2011 Nissan Cube is a good car to cross-shop against the Scion xB. Like the xB, the Cube has plenty of passenger space, a stylish exterior and great safety scores. The 2011 Cube has a lot of overall cargo space, but with the back seats in use, you won’t have much cargo room left. While the Cube’s engine is far from powerful, reviewers said that given the Cube’s odd shape, it is surprisingly nimble. The Nissan Cube has a typical amount of interior features and an average reliability rating. The 2011 Cube’s fuel economy ratings are higher than the xB’s, but they’re still low for a small car.
