Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2009 Suzuki Equator earns good crash test scores from the federal government and the insurance industry. In government testing, the Equator crew cab earns four stars for driver and passenger protection in frontal crashes. The extended cab earns four stars for driver protection and five stars, the highest possible, for passenger protection in frontal crashes. Two-wheel drive Equators have a three-star rollover rating while four-wheel drive equators earn four stars in rollover testing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Equator a rating of Good, the highest possible score, for its performance in frontal crash tests. The Equator comes with a full complement of safety features, including standard side curtain airbags, something its platform-mate, the Nissan Frontier, offers only as an option.
- "The all-new 2009 Equator pickup includes a comprehensive list of standard safety equipment including front and rear crumple zones, dual-stage front supplemental airbags with seat belt sensors and a front occupant classification sensor, three-point front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and the regulation tire pressure monitoring system."-- Chicago Sun-Times
- "The Latch connectors were difficult for my wimpy fingers to finagle because they were recessed and hidden with fabric. I prefer huge connectors that you can see from a mile away. Hidden connectors can leave you with boo-boos, and before you know it, you're out in public with a Superman or SpongeBob bandage on your finger! Not that I know this from experience or anything, I'm just sayin'." -- Mother Proof
