2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara Interior

Suzuki has steadily been improving the interiors of its vehicles and the Grand Vitara may be its best effort yet. Reviewers find its interior spacious and comfortable and note that it feels upscale for such an inexpensive vehicle. The already inexpensive Grand Vitara also boasts plenty of standard features.

In general, critics like the Grand Vitara's seats, although they note that padding could be a little softer. Leather-trimmed seating surfaces and heated front seats are standard on high-end Luxury models.

The base model Grand Vitara comes with features that are usually only reserved for the higher trims of its competitors. These include automatic climate control, a tilt steering wheel with stereo controls, power windows/door locks/mirrors and keyless entry. However, what's missing is cruise control. Upgrading to higher trim levels adds cruise control as well as a seven-speaker audio system.
The Grand Vitara lacks many available high-tech features -- a navigation system and rear entertainment system are not offered. However, few affordable SUVs offer these. If these are necessities, consider buying portable systems or look at the Mazda CX-7. It costs about $4,000 more than the Grand Vitara but offers a navigation and DVD entertainment system.
On the plus side, reviewers find the uncluttered dashboard simple with easy-to-use controls.

The Grand Vitara's cargo area is a bit of a disappointment to reviewers. It provides 24.4 cubic feet with all seats in use (23.8 for XSport and Luxury models) and 68.9 cubic feet with the second row folded down (67.3 for XSport and Luxury models). By contrast, the Subaru Forester provides 33.5 cubic feet and 68.3 cubic feet -- and it comes with rugged all-wheel drive, a more comfortable on-road ride, and only costs about $2,000 more than the Grand Vitara.
