Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid offers an extensive list of safety equipment, and it does very well in government crash tests. The Camry Hybrid earned five out of five stars for both frontal and side impact tests, and has a four-star rollover rating.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't tested the 2010 edition, and doesn't test hybrids separately. The mechanically similar, gasoline-powered 2009 edition earned best-possible rating of "Good" for both frontal offset and side impact tests.
The Camry Hybrid does differ from its conventional cousin, offering Toyota's Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, which controls the vehicles' stability and traction systems, is standard on the hybrid but not available on the regular Camry.
