Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Camry has not been crash tested by any safety agency. However, the structurally similar 2009 version did well in both government and insurance industry crash tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the Camry five out of five stars for front and side impact testing, as well as a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the Camry the highest possible rating, "Good," in both frontal offset and side impact testing.

Toyota has made stability control standard equipment on all Camrys for 2010.

  • "Refrigerators are safe, so their vehicular equivalent should be too. And it is. Toyota's best-selling, bread-and-butter sedan has been carefully tweaked over its twenty-four-year lifespan to offer the most family-friendly, innocuous, safe, and least involving experience possible. The only real danger here is falling asleep at the wheel or losing your Camry in a parking lot." -- Car and Driver
  • "Instead of two airbags standard with four more optional, all Camrys return this year with no less than seven." -- Automotive.com
  • "The Camry was a respectable snow car, making it up the ol' slick, steep driveway with élan. Toyota is nannyish by nature, so a traction control that permitted exuberance was a delightful surprise." -- USA Today
  • "It really takes to the turns well, transitioning from one corner to the next with confidence and transmits a decent amount of feedback through its electro-mechanic rack-and-pinion steering system, an ability which bodes well for any accident avoidance measures it's ever asked to perform." -- Automobile.com
