Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2010 Toyota Corolla does well in federal government crash tests, and the 2009 model gets top marks in insurance industry tests.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2010 Corolla four out of a possible five stars in front crashes and for the rear passengers' protection in side crashes, and a top score of five stars for the driver's protection in side crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the similar 2009 model a "Good" rating, the highest possible, in both frontal-offset and side-impact tests.

  • "Toyota is loading its latest Corolla with safety features. Even the Standard trim level gets side air bags, head/curtain air bags, anti-lock brakes and active head restraints that instantly move to cushion an occupant's head if the Corolla is hit from behind." -- Dallas Morning News
