2014 Toyota Highlander Video Transcript
Reviewers like the 2014 Toyota Highlander's comfortable interior and straightforward tech-features, but do they like the way it drives? Hi! I am Jim Sharifi, Senior Editor with US News Best Cars. In this video we will look at the Toyota Highlander's performance.
The Highlander comes with a 185 horsepower 2.7L 4-cylinder engine or an optional 270 horsepower 3.5L V6, both comes standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front- wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is an option for the V6 model. The 4-cylinder Highlander gets an EPA estimated 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway which are good ratings for an affordable mid-size SUV. With the V6 engine, the Highlander gets 19 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. Test drivers say the 4-cylinder engine delivers decent acceleration, still some think it feels less refined than the V6 which they prefer for its additional hill climbing and highway emerging power. Critics agree that the Highlander has a smooth ride and secure handling that inspires confidence during cornering. They also praise the nicely weighted and responsive steering system.
