Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The federal government gives the 2009 Highlander a top score of five stars for driver safety in frontal crash tests, and four stars for passenger safety. It also gets five-star scores for both front- and rear-seat safety in side crash tests. It's an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety "Top Safety Pick" for its good performance in crash tests and standard electronic stability control.

  • "Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags that cover all seating rows, front side airbags, and a driver knee airbag. Standard on all non-hybrid AWD models is hill descent control. Options include a sunroof, DVD entertainment, three-zone climate control, and a navigation system." -- Consumer Guide
