Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Prius has kept its distinctive shape through its second major redesign, but the 2010 is easy to distinguish from previous editions.  It is larger in all dimensions, and lacks the horizontal bar across the rear window that posed visibility problems in the previous edition.  A prominent hood bulge on the new car visually connects it to the Yaris and Camry

  • "Even though the entire Prius has been redesigned, from behind it's tough to tell anything has changed. ... Is it the best-looking car on the road? Not even close. But the Prius continues to stand out as something unique; it greatly resembles the outgoing model, which has something of an iconic look." -- Cars.com
  • " It's slightly bigger, a little more sculpted in styling and a whisper more aerodynamically efficient (Cd of 0.25). It glows with modernity at each corner, thanks to available LED headlamps and taillights." -- Los Angeles Times
  • "The car's fractionally greater girth is put to better aerodynamic use. Sharp creases on the corners streamline airflow over the body, as does a longer spoiler, flat underbody panels and an optimized roof arch." -- New York Times
  • "Some reshaping around the grille and hood brings in Toyota's new design language." -- CNET
  • "Based purely on aerodynamics, the Prius beats the Insight (0.25 versus 0.28 Cd)." -- Autoblog
  • "The roof's peak moves four inches farther rearward than before, which increases rear-seat headroom." -- Automobile Magazine
