Used Car: 2012 Volkswagen CC Review
Critics liked the 2012 Volkswagen CC’s attractive interior and lively base engine. However, it has a low reliability rating for the class.
The 2012 Volkswagen CC is ranked:
The 2012 Volkswagen CC has a base turbocharged four-cylinder engine that reviewers wrote delivers strong acceleration. V6 models come with all-wheel drive, and some test drivers said the added power of the V6 engine is unnecessary for the CC. Reviewers commented that the DSG six-speed automated manual, available on four-cylinder models, delivers quick, smooth shifts. Four-cylinder models are also available with a six-speed manual transmission and V6 models get a six-speed automatic. According to the EPA, the 2012 VW CC gets 22/31 mpg city/highway, which is fairly good for the class. Test drivers said the CC has a comfortable ride and sporty handling that should satisfy most car buyers. They wrote that the CC has plenty of road grip and feels composed while cornering. The CC’s brakes felt strong to most reviewers, but some said the pedal is a bit touchy.
The automotive press agreed that the 2012 Volkswagen CC’s interior has a handsome design and excellent build quality that give it the feel of a luxury-branded vehicle. Unlike most cars in this class, the CC only seats four people. Reviewers wrote that the CC’s front seats are very comfortable. They said the back seats have adequate legroom, but noted that rear-seat headroom is compromised by the CC’s sloping roofline. The CC has a 13-cubic-foot trunk, which is normal for the class. Standard features in the 2012 VW CC include front seats that are heated and power-adjustable, leatherette upholstery, an eight-speaker stereo system, iPod and auxiliary inputs, satellite radio and Bluetooth. Available features include a rearview camera, a Dynaudio premium sound system, navigation and a sunroof.
Other Cars to Consider
The 2012 Lexus IS has a good reliability rating for the class, and reviewers loved its high-quality, attractive interior. Reviewers said the IS 350 has a powerful, responsive V6 engine which they said gives the IS quick acceleration.
Like the CC, critics said the five-seat 2012 Audi A4 has a high-quality, beautifully designed cabin and ample power from its standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, the A4 comes standard with a sunroof and leather upholstery, and all-wheel drive is available without upgrading to a more powerful engine.
