Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

Volkswagen sells two midsize cars.  The 2010 Passat is its more practical model.  The CC is its stylish model.  VW calls it a "four-door coupe," saying it combines the sleek styling of a sport coupe with the everyday usability of a four-door sedan.  Most reviewers say the car is stunning, though a smaller number aren't taken with the visual effect.

  • "The CC is, no doubt, a looker. I drive a different car into my apartment complex every night, but this is the only one that's ever gotten any attention. "That thing a Volkswagen?" my neighbor asked in amazement. Clearly, this is the new style leader in the mid-size segment." -- Automobile Magazine
  • "Set against a family-sedan backdrop, the CC's beautiful bod makes it a standout in a segment stacked with forgettable styling." -- Car and Driver
  • "Like the Mercedes CLS, the VW CC was created by taking a rather practical sedan with humdrum styling (E-Class and Passat, respectively) and transforming it into a ravishing looker...It all combines to create a car that is remarkably better-looking than the car upon which it's based." -- Edmunds
  • "After a good first impression -- and the inevitable comparison with the finely drawn $70,000 Mercedes CLS -- the CC rapidly loses visual steam. The gentle arc of a swage line along the fuselage reminds me less and less of the CLS and more of -- gasp! -- the Chrysler Sebring. After a day or two in the driveway, the CC becomes a fairly ordinary-looking car." -- Los Angeles Times
  • As "yet another four-door trying to disguise its sedan roots under an arching coupelike roof," the CC "seemed to give off a whiff of a premium-label knockoff." -- New York Times
