Volkswagen supports the Eos with a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty.

In addition to the basic warranty -- which Newsday deems "not the best warranty in the business, for sure, but at least better than the traditional three year/36,000 miles" -- the Eos is covered by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Still, the New York Times points out that Volkswagen has a "dodgy reputation for quality and reliability in recent years, particularly for its new models." Similarly, a reviewer for Cars.com writes: "I'm duty-bound to mention that VW has had reliability problems with many of its models recently. If this mechanically complex car holds together, it should keep its owners very happy."
