Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2009 Volkswagen Routan receives nearly-perfect scores in government crash tests, scoring five out of five stars in frontal and side impacts and a four-star rollover rating. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety also gives the Routan their best rating for frontal and side collisions. However, they only give the Routan a rating of "Marginal" for rear crash protection.
