Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The federal government gives the 2010 Tiguan top safety scores for all seating positions in both frontal and side impact crash tests. The insurance industry gave the 2009 Tiguan a "Top Safety Pick" designation for its good performance in crash tests and standard electronic stability control.
- "Visibility is good to all corners, but the side mirrors are somewhat short, making the blind spots a little bigger than we'd like." -- New Car Test Drive
- "Tiguans also come with a full complement of safety equipment, including antilock brakes, side-curtain air bags and side air bags for the front seats, although you'll have to pay $350 extra if you want side air bags for the back seats. Also standard is VW's ESP, or electronic stabilization program, which compensates for driver handling errors." -- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- "Like all its VW stablemates, the Tiguan features the Prevent and Preserve Safety system with 45 safety features. Among those are six airbags, with rear side airbags as available options." -- Left Lane News
