The Volvo C70 earned much praise during its 2006 introduction, so little or no changes have been made since. The car's look is praised across the board for its distinctive yet decidedly Volvo appeal.
Edmunds reports that top up or down, the C70 is a "handsome car." AutoWeek says this is the "most gorgeous drop-top to ever leave a Swedish car factory."
The Auto Channel agrees, calling the C70 an "extremely good looking car" that "looks like it should have a higher MSRP." Kelley Blue Book says that even though the C70 "has a very short nose, it still looks aggressive, while at the same time clearly demonstrating its Volvo family heritage." About.com says that "you know when a Volvo is coming toward you, thanks to handsome rectangular headlamps, an egg-crate grille and superhero-sized shoulder lines."
Car and Driver points out "that's why the C70 looks so good. It has a balance of line that many four-seaters with this kind of roof system fail to achieve." Cars.com says that the C70 "looks like a coupe to unsuspecting onlookers," adding that it is "spectacular in the purest sense of the word." They wrap up by warning that this car is a traffic stopper when retracting the roof. All agree this car is equally beautiful with the lid up or down. Edmunds says that the C70 is the "first true four-seat convertible to offer the flexibility and durability of a retractable hardtop design." Yet, Edmunds reviewers explain that "you'll wait 29 seconds as the C70's slow-dance, three-card-Monte shuffle lifts a neat three-panel IKEA-esque flat-pack out of the trunk, assembling itself into a handsome steel roof." Cars.com notes that the "rear window is large, which improves visibility."
