Used Car: 2010 Volvo XC60 Review
With lots of cargo space, good performance and safety features that you can’t find in other 2010 luxury compact SUVs, critics said the 2010 Volvo XC60 is an excellent family hauler.
The 2010 Volvo XC60 is ranked:
When it was new, critics loved the overall design and quality of the 2010 XC60’s interior. The seats also drew high marks for comfort, aside from complaints about the back seats feeling snug, which are common for the class. Base models come equipped with leatherette upholstery, a power driver’s seat, Bluetooth and dual-zone climate control. T6 models get standard leather upholstery. Available equipment includes navigation, a 12-speaker stereo, a power liftgate and rear park assist. Also standard across the board is Volvo’s City Safety system, which works to reduce accidents during low-speed driving. An R-Design trim adds sporty cosmetic upgrades to the turbocharged model.
Test drivers liked the XC60’s ample power with the available turbocharged engine, smooth handling and family-friendly features, like available integrated booster seats and a large cargo space. The XC60 has two available engines: a 235-horsepower, 3.2-liter six-cylinder and a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that makes 281 horsepower. Critics said the base 3.2 engine is fine, but most preferred the T6 model with the turbocharged engine, saying it offers better acceleration. Front- and all-wheel drive are available, but adding AWD takes a significant toll on fuel economy. Front-wheel drive models, which are only available with the base engine, manage 18/27 mpg city/highway. AWD models manage just 16/22 mpg with the base engine and 16/21 with the turbo. Utility-wise, the XC60 can carry up to 67.4 cubic feet of cargo, which is one of the best capacities in the class.
Overall, car reviewers agreed that the 2010 Volvo XC60 is an extremely well-rounded SUV. Its high safety scores and above-average reliability rating help position the XC60 as one of the top picks in the class.

Other Cars to Consider
While the XC60 is an excellent all-around SUV, if you’re looking for something more performance-oriented, you may like the 2010 Infiniti EX. The EX is the powerhouse among 2010 compact SUVs, with lots of power and sport sedan-like handling. One major drawback is that the EX has the least cargo room in the class, so it isn’t the best choice for people who need to carry lots of stuff.
Another model worth considering is the 2010 Acura RDX. Critics said it is sporty and nimble, despite having little horsepower compared to rivals. However, some critics found fault with its interior quality, so it may not be the best choice for those looking for an opulent cabin.
