Best Infiniti Deals: November 2009 Lease and Purchase

Infiniti is offering zero-percent financing on many of its popular models, from the 2009 G37 to the 2010 QX56, until Jan. 4, 2010.

Also, be sure to compare current deals and incentives as you cross shop other luxury vehicles. For instance, in some regions the Lexus RX 350 -- which starts at nearly $6,000 less than the Infiniti FX -- is being offered at a lease rate of $499 per month for 36 months with $3,499 due at signing. At face value, that doesn’t sound as attractive as Infiniti’s offering on the 2009 FX: zero percent financing for 36 months. However, if you were to put the same amount of money down on an FX and took the 36-month, interest-free loan, your monthly payment would be more than double that of the RX 350. Even if you were to take advantage of Infiniti’ financing rate of 2.9 percent for 72 months, you’d still be paying much more than you would if you leased the Lexus. Then again, at the end of the financing period, you’d own the Infiniti -- as opposed to the Lexus, which you’d have to return. Depending on what you can afford, you may opt for the Lexus after all.

Also, don’t forget to take advantage of market realities. In addition to poor sales, dealerships are experiencing an influx of 2010 models and, subsequently, the need to sell off old 2009 inventory. Knowing this puts you in a better bargaining position with dealers.

Lastly, do your research. Walk into a dealership with an idea of what trim you want and how much you’re expecting to pay. A good place to start is U.S. News’ Infiniti vehicles page, where you can see the average price paid for the car you’re interested in and use that information to get the best price from a dealer. For instance, the Infiniti G37’s MSRP ranges from $33,250 to $38,700 depending on trim. However, the national average price paid ranges from only $31,665 to $36,418.
