Chrysler Recalls 11,351 Vehicles
Chrysler is recalling 11,351 Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler products for “a missing or incorrectly installed steering column pivot rivet,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. A missing or poorly installed rivet could cause the driver to lose control of the car, which increases the risk of an accident.
The recalled models are from the 2011 model year and apply to the Chrysler 200, Chrysler 200 Convertible, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Caliber, Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Journey, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Compass, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Wrangler.
The recall begins this month, and affected owners may take their vehicle to a local dealer to get the rivet replaced for free. Chrysler’s safety recall number is L23. Contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov with further questions.
